Listing of the Day
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Price: $6.995 million
Built as the showroom and service garage for the T.A. Bryson Packard Motor Car Company, this 1904 Romanesque Revival-influenced building in Savannah’s Historic Landmark District now holds three fully furnished condo units that are being marketed as a single listing.
The ground floor of the East Perry Lane building, which holds a real estate office, had a car showroom in front and a garage in back, said listing agent Staci Donegan, of Seabolt Real Estate, Christie’s International Real Estate. A car elevator went to the two upper floors, where cars were serviced and outfitted.
“It’s right on Chippewa Square, which is a very active square, with coffee shops, a theater and things of that sort,” she said.
The crown jewel, Unit C, is a five-bedroom duplex penthouse with a “pretty fantastic rooftop garden with amazing views,” she said. “You see the Talmadge Bridge and all of the church steeples.”
The building holds a seven-car underground parking garage, but it could hold up to 11 cars depending on how the space is configured, she said. “If you’re a car collector, you could stack your cars in there.”
The four-bedroom Unit A and three-bedroom Unit B are on the middle level, she said. While A has no outdoor space, all four bedrooms overlook Chippewa Square. Unit B has a covered porch.
“What’s notable about these units is that there is tons of storage,” Donnegan said. They have been professionally decorated and feature fully renovated bathrooms and kitchens.
Stats
Including all three condos, the 10,665-square-foot home has 12 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and one partial bathroom.
Amenities
Amenities include garage parking and an elevator that services every floor of the building. The penthouse’s rooftop terrace has both covered and open areas.
Neighborhood Notes
“You’re right in the heart of the Landmark District,” Donnegan said. “You can’t get any more centrally located than this. It’s five minutes to the river and five minutes to Forsyth Park.”
“You’re very close to the Savannah Theatre, and the Perry Lane Hotel is around the corner,” she said. Chippewa Square is a “very, very vibrant and active square.”
The opening scene in “Forrest Gump,” where Tom Hanks is sitting on a park bench, was famously filmed in the square.
